Ginger Snaps is a 2000 Canadian horror film about two close teenage sisters (Ginger and Brigitte Fitzgerald, played by Katharine Isabelle and Emily Perkins), who are obsessed with death. The title is a pun. A ginger snap is a popular type of cookie. However, the word "snap" could also be seen in the context to mean either to lose one's self-control or the quick, aggressive bite of a dog.
Plot
The two sisters are "late bloomers" until one day in early October, when Ginger has her first period. Immediately after this she is attacked by a wild animal and subsequently begins growing hair in strange places and feeling strange new urges. Although their mother suspects that all of Ginger's actions are due to the fact that she has finally hit puberty, some of her new actions, such as taking up drugs and making out with boys, cause Brigitte to believe Ginger's new energy owes to a unique force. Brigitte eventually realizes Ginger has been bitten by a werewolf.
Brigitte and a new friend, a drug dealer obsessed with werewolves, attempt to devise a cure, but Ginger rejects the first cure, a metal ring. She then gives into urges that cause her to kill people. Brigitte is forced to help hide the bodies, and must try to save her before the transformation becomes complete at the end of the month.

The trilogy's producers have stated that they are interested in making a TV series based on the films, possibly an anthology series based on Brendan Fletcher's appearance in the latter two films playing different characters.[1] As of 2006, nothing has materialized.
